Institute for E-Business Security (ISEB)

The ISEB pursues the goal of doing research in the field of business and economic implications of security in e-business, as well as information security in companies and public institutions.

The main focus is on economical analyses and organizational design tasks, which are always integrated into the interdisciplinary context of information security. Examples are the information risk and the information security management or questions of information security and confidence in online-trade.

Right from the beginning the necessity of an interdisciplinary research was taken into consideration by the participation of economists, computer scientists, sociologists and lawyers in the ISEB as well as the integration into the Horst-Görtz-Institute for it-security (HGI). The institute actively strives cooperations with other faculties as well as with further national and international research institutions and companies.

The activities of the institute are based on three columnes:

  • Analysis of selected problem definitions of information security within the economic disciplines
  • Scientific exchange concerning publications, lectures, discussion forums and conferences
  • Cooperation with corresponding national and international scientific institutions

  • Organization of seminars and workshops with students
  • Allocation of bachelor and master thesis as well as of seminar projects relating to information security topics
  • Integration of information security aspects into existing classes at the Faculty of Management and Economics

  • Lectures of practicians as well as working groups and workshops with companies and public institutions
  • Common events with companies/public institutions and students in order to grant a practice-orientated training
  • Individual consulting to topics of information security and accomplishment of projects
